John DeMita, Performance Coach, has worked extensively in all aspects of the performing arts. As a theatre actor, he has appeared on the stages of the Oregon Shakespeare Festival, Pittsburgh Irish and Classical Theatre, Intiman Theatre, Pasadena Playhouse, Williamstown Theatre Festival, Pacific Conservatory of the Performing Arts, as well as at the Hollywood Bowl, Pasadena Playhouse, Antaeus Theatre Company, and the Pacific Resident Theatre, of which he was a founding member. In addition, he is an award winning theatre director with 37 productions to his credit, both professional and academic.
On screen, John enjoyed 4 Seasons as Marine Colonel Clifford Blakely on the CBS series JAG, as a series regular on Comedy Central’s The Clinic, and has enjoyed recurring roles on 18 Wheels of Justice and the daytime dramas Days of Our Lives, The Young and the Restless, and The Bold and the Beautiful, in addition to numerous guest star roles. As a voice actor, John has performed in hundreds of animated features, cartoon and live action series, and video games, including the classic films of Hayao Miyazaki, the anime series’ Naruto, The Animtarix, and Aeon Flux, the Final Fantasy video games series, the television series’ Mad Men and The Blacklist, and most recently as the voice of a gorilla in Disney’s newest version of The Jungle Book. In 2016, John will also be voicing the lead in the upcoming animated film Resident Evil: Vendetta, for which he also traveled to Tokyo to create the role as a motion capture performer.
John was a cum laude graduate of Yale University (B.A. Theatre Studies and English) and was among the first students to receive an M.F.A. in Acting from the American Conservatory Theatre in San Francisco. He is currently an Associate Professor of Theatre Practice at the University of Southern California’s School of Dramatic Arts.
